Main contents of the project include 6 large-tank areas with capacity of above 10,000 tons each, a large warehouse for bulk goods and bags, packing workshops, comprehensive tank areas for phosphoric acid, sulfuric acid and ammonia, main equipment areas for production of DAP, long pipelines for phosphoric acid and ammonia, and system interfaces for various public works. It was commenced from May 2001 and completed in September 2006.

The project was the largest export project of complete equipment constructed in Bangladesh using the preferential sudsidized loan from the Chinese government. The establishment and production of DAP-1 project terminated long-time history of Bangladesh’s dependence on DAP product import, and actively promoted its agricultural production. The project was selected by China Construction Industry Association into the first batches of China Building Construction Luban Awards (national excellent project) (overseas project). The award is the highest honor for quality of construction works in China.
